Oracle to put supply chain tools on Net

Oracle said it is providing its supply-chain collaboration software over the Web as a service. The Web-based application helps companies pass data between their suppliers and customers. The database-software giant said companies can access the software via supplychain.oracle.com and be able to get up and running on it in as few as 20 days. Supplychain.oracle.com is the latest in a string of software-as-a-service products that Oracle has touted recently. Earlier this month, the company announced a new bundle of software and services intended to help companies go live on a purchasing system within 30 days. Oracle is hosting the application for customers, who can access it via Oracle.com. In April, Oracle touted a similar software and services package that promises installation of its customer-relationship management (CRM) software in 90 days. The software helps automate a company's customer service, sales and marketing needs.
