The database software maker already uses RSA's tools in its Advanced Networking Option, Oracle Mobile Agents, Oracle Web Server, and Oracle PowerBrowser software. The new agreement will give Oracle carte blanche to use the encryption technology in any of its products, including future electronic commerce software, according to the company.
Oracle will incorporate encryption application programming interfaces into its software, allowing customers to use the RSA encryption technology embedded in Oracle products to write custom protected applications. RSA sells BSAFE, a widely used cryptographic engine, and the S/MIME Toolkit for developing secure applications that use the engine.
