Opera releases Mac preview

Opera Software released an early preview of version 5.0 of its Web browser for the Macintosh. Opera, based in Oslo, Norway, called the release a "technology preview" and said that although the preview would not harm computers, it was likely to have numerous bugs and crash frequently. "The look and feel--as well as capabilities of Opera 5 for Macintosh--will certainly change dramatically before a final release, but Macintosh fans can already now see in what direction our browser is heading," Hakon Lie, Opera's chief technology officer, said in a statement. The company is soliciting feedback on the browser, which is available from Opera's Web site.
