We're all beholden to Microsoft in one way or another. But recently it seems we're getting a few more options from other companies for, say, word processing, presentations, or spreadsheets (just like the good/bad old days). Here at CNET, we recently reviewed a couple of less expensive products: Sun StarOffice 8 and Corel WordPerfect Office 12, which despite its name does more than word processing.

For good measure, here's eWeek's write-up of OpenOffice.org 2, an update to the free OpenOffice.org, which CNET's Download.com thought was very nice for the price.
