Oculus Connect 3, the third annual developer conference for the VR headset maker, is slated to start October 5 in San Jose, California. Oculus says it'll be the largest Connect conference yet, with new hardware, new content and keynotes from company co-founder Brendan Iribe, chief scientist Michael Abrash and chief technology officer John Carmack, who's also the co-founder of Id Software and programmer of games like Wolfenstein 3D, Quake and Doom.
Last year's Connect conference came just as a new generation of virtual reality headsets were beginning to go mainstream. It featured a keynote from Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, the company that spent $2 billion to acquire Oculus in 2014.
The company also says that it's ramping up retail inventory on the Oculus Rift headset now that all preorders have shipped. Starting this month, you'll be able to get your hands on the Rift at select Microsoft Stores or catch a VR demo at select Best Buys. Oculus says that new online orders are now shipping within two to four business days.
Applications to attend Connect 3 will go live on the Connect website at 9:00 a.m. PT on August 2.
