NPI's (NPIX) NuSight Network Management System is targeted at the workgroup and departmental network, but also integrates with enterprise-wide platforms such as Hewlett-Packard's OpenView via SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).
The product includes automatic discovery of all IP (Internet Protocol), SNMP, and NPI devices on a network, as well as a Map Editor tool that lets administrators graphically display a network topology after devices have been discovered by the search function.
NuSight Network Management System also features a protocol server that automatically assigns IP addresses, an alarm manager that can send alerts to administrators in a variety of ways, and a Management Information Base (MIB) compiler for advanced management functions.
The product uses a Microsoft Access database manager to collect data on network performance. Consequently, network data can easily be placed in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for easy correlation and interpretation.
NuSight Network Management System runs on Windows 3.1, 95, or NT.
The product is available now at a cost of $695.
