Business software maker Novell on Tuesday released an updated version of its Extend Java application server software, which is designed to improve the ability to build a Web browser interface for accessing back-end databases.
Extend Application Server 5.0 is Java server software for building custom business applications.. The latest edition also adheres to the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) version 1.3 specification. Another upgrade, due this fall, will include tools based on the World Wide Web Consortium's XForms standard for building Web-based applications. Novell intends to incorporate the Extend Java application server software with its NetWare version 6.5 operating system this summer.
