Renowned photographic agency Magnum has teamed up with Nintendo to show off the 3DS console's image skills.
Enlisting the help of three Magnum photographers — Martin Parr, Thomas Dworzak and Gueorgui Pinkhassov — the agency gave a 3DS to each and asked them to take a series of 3D images. The resulting photos have just been displayed in an exhibition in Paris showing the potential of the gaming console as a camera — and as a device to view 3D images. Several consoles were placed around the exhibition space showing the photos, and while there are only a select few images from the exhibition available to view online, one reviewer wasn't particularly impressed with the artistic merit of the photos on display.
Nintendo has also rolled out the 3D photographic treatment closer to home by giving four Australian personalities a console to document their lives. The photos from Luke Jacobz, Sophie Falkiner, Tony Blums and photographer James Morgan are on display at The Argyle in The Rocks, Sydney, until 23 September.
