New mouse no rudimentary rodent

Microsoft added to its arsenal IntelliMouse, a new point-and-click device.

Microsoft today announced IntelliMouse, a new point-and-click device that for now only works with Windows 95 and the latest Microsoft applications.

Users of Office 97, Internet Explorer 3.0 and Windows 95 will be able to use the mouse's "wheel" to navigate up and down without using scroll bars and set documents to scroll automatically at speeds chosen by the user. IntelliMouse will be available in November for $85.

In Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser, IntelliMouse functions as a "back" button, allowing users to spin the wheel to retrace their online path across the Web. A zoom function will also provide an outline view of any compatible Office 97 document or of file trees within the Explorer version for Windows 95.
