First introduced last July, Fusion is a drag and drop tool for creating and managing Web pages. Although the market for Web page design tools is becoming increasingly cluttered, NetObjects asserts that Fusion is better at creating entire Web sites than competitors such as Microsoft's FrontPage 97 and Adobe Systems' PageMill.
NetObjects has already released a Windows 95 version of Fusion, but a Mac edition of the product could greatly expand its appeal for designers, many of whom use Macs.
Virtually identical to the Windows version, Fusion for the Mac will also support Apple Computer's Meta Content Format, a technology that can be used to create 3D as well as 2D representations of Web sites, sources said.
At a press event in New York next week, NetObjects will also announce a comarketing agreement with Apple, the details of which have not been finalized, sources said.
