Get ready to journey back in time to the 1950s and '60s. Everyone's favorite time-traveling dog-and-human duo -- Mr. Peabody and Sherman -- is headed back to TV screens courtesy of Netflix.
Netflix is working on a reboot of the beloved franchise, and will release a 13-episode series called "The New Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show" in October, Variety reported on Friday. Produced by DreamWorks Animation, the cartoon takes its inspiration from the "Peabody's Improbable History" segments that were part of the animated series "Rocky and His Friends" and "The Bullwinkle Show" at midcentury.
The series will be a bit of a departure for dog (Peabody) and boy (Sherman). In the Netflix series, the two are hosts of a late-night comedy show, hanging out with celebrity guests of yesteryear such as Napoleon, Mozart and Edgar Allen Poe.
Along the way, they'll continue to go on time-traveling adventures in Mr. Peabody's WABAC (that's "way back") machine. Child actor Max Charles will take on the role of Sherman, just as he did in DreamWorks' 2014 movie "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," while "SNL" and "30 Rock" actor Chris Parnell will assume the role of Mr. Peabody.
"The New Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show" is set to premiere October 9 in the US and UK, with the release date for Australia to be determined.
