Get a first peek at Neil Patrick Harris as 'Unfortunate' villain

Teaser footage for the new Netflix show reveals the actor playing creepy Count Olaf from Lemony Snicket's books.

How evil is Neil Patrick Harris' Count Olaf? "You haven't the faintest idea," Harris tells the Baudelaire orphans in the new teaser for Netflix's upcoming "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events."

Count Olaf's been brought to life on screen before, with Jim Carrey portraying him in the 2004 big-screen movie. But Harris brings his own air of sinister menace to the role as he strolls out of the darkness to attempt stealing the inheritance of Violet, Sunny and Klaus.

The series, based on Daniel Handler's series of 13 children's novels, launches its eight-episode run January 13 on Netflix. The cast includes Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack and Aasif Mandvi.

This isn't the first peek at the show fans have gotten. In October, Netflix released a teaser in which Warburton, as Lemony Snicket, narrates an introduction to the series. And last summer, a mysterious and creepy teaser believed by many to be fan-made circulated, with CNET's Caitlin Petrakovitz arguing it held enough hidden secrets that it could almost be real.

Harris himself couldn't resist tweeting about the trailer, and he had a definite, Harris-like opinion on his character's appearance.
