The 4G version of Motorola's excellent Moto G smartphone is on sale in the UK today, giving Brits the chance to snap up a high-powered mobile at an extremely tempting price.

The 4.5-inch Moto G 4G is out now at Phones 4U, which says it will be charging £160 for a SIM-free version of the phone, or £150 on pay as you go, plus a £10 top-up. At the time of writing the SIM-free version of the phone wasn't available on Phones 4U's website, but the retailer tells me this option will be live on the site very soon. Alternatively, you can get the Moto G free up front with a £19 monthly payment, on a 4G contract.

The Moto G with 4G has a very appealing price tag, but doesn't skimp on specs either. Putting aside its 4G powers, which let the phone access speedier mobile data, the new Moto G has a 720p display, a quad-core processor and runs a largely unmodified version of Google's Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

Last year's Moto G really impressed us, with a lack of 4G being one of the only minor flaws in an otherwise marvellous mobile. This year's edition also adds a microSD card slot, should you want to expand the phone's on-board storage.

The Moto G 4G comes in a range of colours, though Phones 4U says it will have the white version on sale before any other UK retailer.
