Millennium Falcon coffee table re-creates the asteroid field chase

This isn't just a Millennium Falcon coffee table. It's an entire chase scene from "The Empire Strikes Back."

An asteroid field doesn't faze Han Solo.Tom Spina Designs

Most coffee tables sit around looking plain, holding your old magazines and providing a place for your Mountain Dew to sit while you're gaming.

The Falcon Asteroid Chase coffee table from Tom Spina Designs is probably the most action-packed coffee table ever created. It has drama. It has suspense. It has the Millennium Falcon from "Star Wars."

The coffee table re-creates the scene from "The Empire Strikes Back" where Han Solo pilots the Millennium Falcon into an asteroid field during a battle with TIE Fighters.

A close-up look at the table shows a gorgeous amount of detail, with a threatening TIE Fighter flying nearby a battle-worn Falcon. The asteroids are gray and pockmarked with craters. The table is designed to be used with a glass top so you can look through and see the scene unfolding underneath.

Table creator Richard Riley, an artist with Tom Spina Designs, used Millennium Falcon and TIE Fighter models made by Hasbro, but he modified them with custom paint jobs. The table is an impressive 60 inches long and 36 inches wide.

The only problem is no one will want to set anything on the table and obscure the view.

The happy owner of this sweet piece of furniture will be able to spout C-3PO's line: "Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1." Of course, the proper response to that little FYI is Solo's "Never tell me the odds!"

This isn't the first time we've met Tom Spina Designs in relation to a "Star Wars" project. The company created a series of wall tiles based on the Death Star for a customer's home theater. Back in 2008, Spina Designs debuted a pretty fantastic Han Solo-in-carbonite desk that set the standard for custom "Star Wars" furniture. The Millennium Falcon coffee table just adds to the legend.
