Just a quick follow-up to the story from last month that Microsoft was working on a variety of new tools aimed at wooing Lotus Notes users over to Microsoft software. One of the promised tools, an "application analyzer," made a brief appearance--and then a speedy disappearance--from Microsoft's Web site.
Different people are offering different reasons for the tool's removal. In a blog, Microsoft UK's John Westworth says that "Lotus Notes Application Analyser has been taken off the download site is because it's a BETA and as such it's reached the end of it's BETA life cycle."
Microsoft PR meanwhile, said that the beta version was supposed to be limited to pre-selected testers and was not intended for public use. A representative said the tool remains in private testing, with a final public release is still slated for later this quarter.
