Metro One sees higher 4Q earnings

Metro One Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MTON) said Wednesday it would beat earnings estimates for its fourth quarter by as much as 8 cents a share.

Shares in the provider of enhanced telecom services closed up 0.5 to 18.44 Tuesday.

The company restated that it sees fourth quarter revenue of about $47 to $48 million, in line with previous guidance.

As a result of increased efficiencies realized so far in the quarter, Metro One said it also expects to surpass First Call's consensus estimate of 25 cents per share, with earnings in the range of 29 to 33 cents per share.

"We continue to experience strong revenue momentum, reflecting call volume growth across most of our customer base and the roll out of some new volume markets," said CEO Timothy A. Timmins in a release.

Metro One currently plans to announce its fourth quarter and full year 2000 results in early February 2001.
