Memorial service set for HP's Lew Platt

Service will be held next month to honor former HP CEO Lew Platt, who died earlier this month as the result of an aneurism.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 18 to honor former Hewlett-Packard CEO Lew Platt, who died earlier this month as the result of an aneurism. The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at Stanford Memorial Church on the campus of Stanford University. Platt, who was 64, passed away Sept. 8, and a private ceremony has been held.

Platt served as HP's chief executive from 1992 to 1999 and had served as a board member at aerospace giant Boeing since 2003. In lieu of flowers, Platt's family requests contributions be made in his name to his alma mater, Cornell University, 102 Prospect St., Suite 200, Ithaca, N.Y., 14850-5650.
