Matsushita selects Rambus for TV memory

Company's digital TVs will use a Rambus-designed interface for high-speed memory.

Japan's Matsushita announced on Monday that it will integrate a DDR2 interface designed by Rambus into its next-generation digital television, or DTV, chipsets. The interface essentially connects high-speed memory to the rest of the TV.

Matsushita also licensed an interface for XDR memory, which Rambus developed. By adopting both interfaces, Matsushita will be able to sell a broader spectrum of TVs.
