Man allegedly pulls out gun during 'Star Trek Beyond'

Technically Incorrect: In Kentucky, an altercation apparently involving a kicked seat at a movie theater leads to police intervention.

Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.

The incident reportedly happened during a showing of "Star Trek Beyond."

The incident allegedly started after a boy kept kicking the seat of the man in front of him.

At least that's how police in Paducah, Kentucky, describe it.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Paducah Police Department reports that a father was sitting with his son in the Cinemark Theatre on Saturday morning. The boy apparently wouldn't stop kicking the seat.

"Witnesses said the man got up and cursed the youth, asking if he was going to continue kicking his seat," the police reported. "The boy's father interceded and a fight broke out between the two men."

The situation escalated.

"As the father got the upper hand in the fight, witnesses said the other man pulled a gun and said, 'What the (expletive) are you going to do now,'" said the police.

Officers were called and the alleged gun-wielder was arrested. Police say they're seeking charges against the man, who is from Illinois.

The Paducah Sun reported that the incident occurred during a showing of "Star Trek Beyond."

Neither the Paducah Police Department nor Cinemark immediately responded to a request for comment.

This isn't the first time an argument in a theater has gotten out of control.

Two years ago in Florida, a retired police officer pulled a gun on another moviegoer after he allegedly became annoyed that the man was texting. He shot and killed the man.

Police in Paducah said that many people fled the Paducah movie theater but that three men -- staff and patrons -- grabbed the alleged gun-wielder and escorted him out of the building. They waited with him until police arrived.

The man, police said, has been barred from Cinemark property.
