Don't you love the Japanese for coming up with something like this? Come October 8, everyone's favorite gadgetland will roll out Gopan, a gadget that utilizes rice as the key ingredient to make bread. A play on the words "gohan" (for cooked rice) and "pan" (bread), Sanyo's device gives you more options for your rice than just making sushi.
Built into the machine is a fully automatic rice mill that grinds the grains, even unpolished rice, and mixes these with water to get rice paste. Though whether the end result tastes as good as the real deal remains to be seen when this machine ships beyond Japan to other parts of Asia in 2011.
The Gopan apparently makes 22 kinds of bread and dough, and the price reflects that at a whopping 50,000 yen ($593). Still, Still, those allergic to wheat gluten will find the Gopan lets them have their bread and eat it too.
