'Mad Max' game trailer wheels out 'Fury Road' car-flipping carnage

You can don the road warrior's leathers in the new post-apocalyptic game, but there's no sign of fan favourite Furiosa.

A man with no wheels is a man with no hope. Better find some wheels then.

Channeling the flame-'n'-metal, smash-'em-up spectacle of the hit movie "Mad Max: Fury Road" is a new trailer for the upcoming game that puts you in the leathers of road warrior Max Rockatansky.

Played by Tom Hardy in "Fury Road" and Mel Gibson in three earlier movies, Max is a lone wanderer of a nightmarish post-apocalyptic Australia. In the forthcoming game, "Savage Road," Max is left for dead in the desert and his V8 Interceptor stolen by the merciless Wasteland tyrant Scrotus. Playing Max, you wander the desert looking for parts to build a new war machine, taking on Scrotus' minor warlords and their hordes of Warboys, both in a car and with your fists.

The parched desert is rendered as an open world to be explored, preferably at high speeds and while ploughing into bizarre enemy vehicles. Turning your car into a weapon for the sun-scorched, sand-blasted racing scenes, you also get to scrape your knuckles and knees on the pasty bad guys in the fighting style of the brutal Batman games "Arkham Asylum", "Arkham City" and "Arkham Knight". Oh, and if Max is a man of too few words, you have a chatty sidekick and mechanic called Chumbucket.

The "Savage Road" trailer certainly showcases the dust-clouded desert destruction and car-flipping carnage of George Miller's jaw-dropping "Fury Road". But there's one glaring omission: Imperator Furiosa, the true star of "Fury Road". Fingers crossed the one-armed war rig driver shows up in a future game. Played by Charlize Theron in the film, she's certainly caught the imagination with various artists offering their own interpretations of her badassitude. In the meantime, she's back on the road in a series of prequel comics from DC's Vertigo Comics.

"Mad Max" will be available on 1 September for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. Let the people know and let the blood flow.
