LSI Logic speeds its ARM

LSI Logic on Wednesday announced the availability of an ARM-based processor running at 333MHz, the fastest of its type, according to the company. The processor is based around a basic chip design from Cambridge, England-based ARM but includes customized technology from LSI. The chip will largely be sold to companies building communications equipment and storage systems.

The new chip core is being built on the 110-nanometer process, which means that its feature size is less than today's 130-nanometer chip but larger than the 90-nanometer chips coming to market over the next year.
