Look on the bright side of Microsoft

In response to the April 25 Newsmaker column by Michael Kanellos and Stephen Shankland, "Ballmer: No sleep lost over Linux":

I really enjoy your Web site and I feel like I am on top of the technology by just glancing at it every day. In fact, it is set as my home page. However, I feel that CNET is unfairly biased against Microsoft. Almost every article about Microsoft seems relatively negative, whereas in articles about Sun Microsystems or Linux everything is overly positive.

I am one of the few people who has worked and consulted on most of the operating systems and database management systems out there, including Novell, Sun Unix, SCO Unix, Linux, BSD, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft products and many others. I can tell you that there is nothing more frustrating than trying to get support from Sun, Oracle or Novell technicians about their own products. Forget it when it comes to Linux. In addition, the cost is outrageous.

If I call Microsoft, I get an experienced technician almost immediately. I have yet to bring them a problem they couldn't fix relatively quickly and at almost ridiculously low cost.

As a fan of the site, I wish that you would put a brighter spin on at least some of the articles that are written about Microsoft and (include) more articles about the new advances that they make.
