Linux companies sign Brazil sales deal

Conectiva and Caldera International, two companies that sell the Linux operating system, have deepened a software partnership. Under a deal announced Wednesday, Conectiva will sell Caldera's Volution management software and Unix operating system software in Brazil, where Conectiva is based.

The partnership could be extended to include other parts of Latin America as well. Conectiva and Caldera are two founding members of the UnitedLinux effort to base their products on the same version of Linux to better compete with market leader Red Hat.
