Intuit has released Quicken 2002 with a version for Macs and one for Windows-based PCs. Quicken 2002 Deluxe for Macs runs natively in Apple Computer's OS X, which means it can take advantage of the operating system's new graphic interface and increased stability. According to Intuit, Quicken 2002 Deluxe for Macintosh allows people to more quickly set up and update financial accounts, to avoid manual data entry by downloading bank, credit card and brokerage transactions, and to check the tax impact of potential investment decisions. The software is priced at $59. Those who are upgrading can take advantage of a $20 mail-in rebate.
Quicken 2002 for PCs comes in Deluxe, Home & Business, and Suite versions. The Deluxe version for PCs is equivalent to the one for Macs. The Home & Business version includes the Deluxe features and adds items such as mileage tracking, customizable invoices and help in creating business plans. The Suite includes Quicken 2002 Deluxe, TurboTax Deluxe, Quicken Lawyer 2002 Personal Deluxe and a coupon to receive TurboTax State for free. Deluxe costs $59; Home & Business, $79; and Suite, $99. For those who are upgrading, there is a $20 mail-in rebate for Deluxe and Home & Business. The $20 rebate is available for all Suite purchasers.
