Intergraph switches over

Intergraph Computer Systems is the latest server maker to introduce a failover product for its Windows NT servers.

Intergraph Computer Systems (INGR) is the latest server maker to introduce a failover product for its Microsoft Windows NT servers.

Following on the heels of Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard, and Data General, Intergraph said today it is offering software that will take existing data and processes and switch them to a secondary server if a primary server fails. That switch is rendered transparent to the user.

The product, InterSite Mirroring and Switch Over bundle, is based on failover software technology from Octopus Technologies called Automatic Switch Over (ASO).

The Intergraph offering mirrors to disks in a local or wide area network.

The product, consisting of two copies of the Octopus software, two Network Interface Cards, and a cable, is available on all of Intergraph's InterServe servers, including its popular Web server line.

The Intergraph/Octopus package is available now for $4,840.
