Hulu is going live.

The TV streaming service, whose typical fare is reruns, will start offering live sports, news and events to its subscribers next year. The move could make Hulu a bigger competitor to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and inspire more folks to cut the cord.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by CNET Executive Editor Roger Cheng (currently on parental leave), Senior Writer Ben Fox Rubin and Producer Bryan VanGelder.
