After airing to an audience of 14.4 million viewers over Memorial Day weekend, A&E Networks is sending its remake of the classic miniseries "Roots" to Hulu. All episodes of the miniseries will stream exclusively on the service starting this fall, Hulu said in a release Tuesday.

Based on Alex Haley's 1976 novel "Roots: The Saga of an American Family," the 8-hour miniseries recounts the journey of a family through the age of American slavery. It's also a remake of a classic 1977 miniseries of the same name.

The deal also includes the acquisitions of the Lifetime's "War and Peace," which will begin streaming on Hulu this summer, as well as History's docu-drama "Barbarians Rising," which will arrive in 2017.
