Thehas vanished from Vodafone's 'coming soon' page, with a Vodafone spokesman confirming to us the network will be dropping the 3D smart phone from its line up.
Vodafone told us the the reason is because of a delay to the phone's launch, which means the Evo 3D would be "coming out at the same time as other exciting handsets".
Other upcoming mobiles might include iPhone 5, and Vodafone presumably doesn't think the Evo 3D has enough clout to make bringing it out worthwhile.and the
In a separate statement, Vodafone said, "We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people, but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2, with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline and we'll continue to focus on bringing the latest and greatest smart phones to Vodafone customers."
? ? Those phones have been out for weeks. They may as well never have existed.
Unfortunately, it looks as though this could be it in terms of getting the Evo 3D on contract. We've spoken to the other UK networks, but none has stated it's planning on taking up the 3D-touting smart phone.
You can still pre-order the Evo 3D SIM-free online -- Amazon reckons it'll be available on 12 September. The £500 price tag will make you wince, but it looks as if that might be the only way to get some Evo 3D goodness.
Vodafone will be notifying customers who registered their interest in the device shortly. In the meantime, let us know -- were you psyched about the Evo 3D? Or are three-dimensioned mobiles a silly gimmick? Let us know in the comments section below, or on our Facebook page.
