Revealed: How 'Game of Thrones' kills so many people in a single day

While we wait for winter to end so winter can finally arrive this April, HBO is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the hit show.

I know. Three more months is a long time to wait for your next dose of alternative-universe medieval sex, backstabbing, front stabbing and head stabbing, among other types of gory " Game of Thrones" death dealing. Fortunately, HBO is helping us to scratch that itch with a special behind-the-scenes mini-documentary set to premiere February 8.

The special, titled "Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life,"is a half-hour show that covers a single day of shooting from season 5 across three different countries -- in Northern Ireland, Croatia and Spain. The show looks to highlight just how elaborate and complex the production of the show is, involving multiple units shooting simultaneously with cast and crew numbering into the hundreds.

I worry a little bit that this special could ruin the more disturbing aspects of the show. Sure, it would be nice to have fewer nightmares, but knowing what type of melon stands in for the human cranium when the required sound effect of a skull is needed could take away from the experience a bit.

There's no word on whether such spoilers are actually included in the special as it follows key crew members throughout a single day. But if you don't want to take a chance, then it's back to counting the many days until the season 5 premiere on April 12. The trailer for the behind-the-scenes special is below.
