Groove Networks hires new execs

Software maker Groove Networks has created new executive positions, appointing Chuck Teubner as president and chief operating officer and Kelly Collins as vice president of government systems. The Beverly, Mass.-based company said Teubner, 55, will manage daily business operations and will report to Ray Ozzie, Groove Networks' chairman and chief executive. Teubner has worked for the Defense Department, Sybase, Computer Corporation of America and USinternetworking. Groove Networks said Collins will be responsible for accelerating the company's sales growth in the federal, state and local government sectors. Collins previously worked for companies such as Bowstreet, Sybase and IBM. Privately-held Groove Networks makes software that takes a Napster-like approach to sharing files and data. In October, Microsoft invested $51 million in the company.
