"Where's that damn document I'm looking for?"
If you're a Google Drive user, you can now find that doc by typing in a search query much like the one above (though you'll probably want to be just a bit more specific).
Google's cloud storage and file backup service has been updated to allow for Natural Language Processing, or NLP, the Google Drive team said in a blog post Tuesday.
That means you can type in a simple question like "find my budget spreadsheet from last December" to find what you're looking for -- in the same way you can type, say, "where can I get an ice cream around here?" when using Google Search on your phone or laptop.
When you do it in Drive, the service "will understand what you mean and give you the option to click for those specific search results," the post says. (See the animated GIF.)
"Drive NLP will get better with each query -- so keep on searching," the team says.
Other tweaks to Drive include an autocorrect feature that suggests corrections to misspelled search terms and the ability to easily split a doc into multiple columns.
The Drive team says the features are available worldwide and will roll out gradually as of today.
