If you're a character in the "Ghostbusters" universe (or simply an avid fan), then you know the name John Horace Tobin, author of famous ghost-spotting reference book "Tobin's Spirit Guide." While the book may have started in the realm of fiction, it's about to become a very real entity.

"Tobin's Spirit Guide," first referenced in the original 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie and since making appearances in offshoot productions like the animated series "The Real Ghostbusters," will appear in bookstores next year.

The book is coming from publisher Insight Editions, which already has "Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History" on its coming-soon list. That book will feature behind-the-scenes photos, concept art and interviews with actors and producers involved in the series.

"Tobin's Spirit Guide" will be more like an Audubon guide to ghosts, covering creepies, crawlies and phantoms from the movies and the expanded universe.

The description reads, "For the first time, this fully illustrated tome will allow fans to pore through the pages of this legendary guide to learn all about the things that go bump in the night--from Class 5 Free-Roaming Vapors to giant Sloars!"

Author Erik Burnham and illustrator Kyle Hotz are attached to the project. Both Burnham and Hotz have been involved with Ghostbusters graphic novels.

The book is due out on May 31, 2016, giving fans a few months head start on learning their ghosts ahead of the July 15 debut of the new female-led .
