It's refurbished, but also $30 less than you'd pay for the new equivalent. Pair it with a laptop or TV for a big audio boost.

Looking to add a decent sound system to your laptop -- or perhaps even a small TV? When you're doing an end run around tiny built-in speakers, there's nowhere to go but up.

For a limited time, and while supplies last, Meritline has the refurbished Logitech Z313 2.1-channel speaker system for $19.96 shipped. That's after applying coupon code MLCSUMMER20 at checkout. (Meritline's codes do expire after a fixed number of uses; as of this writing, it was still working.)

Update: Apologies, folks. Looks like the coupon has expired and Meritline has jacked the price up to $30.99.

This 25-watt system includes two satellite speakers and a subwoofer. As even novice audiophiles know, the latter makes a huge difference in the overall depth and quality of the sound you'll hear.

If you're putting the Z313 on a desk alongside a laptop or monitor, you'll appreciate the wired volume control, which includes a headphone jack for those times when you want to listen on your own.

I think these would make an especially good match for a den or bedroom TV. Just plug them into the TV's headphone jack and you're good to go. And because they have their own power supply, you don't have to worry about whether your TV has a powered USB port.

Even if you miss out on the coupon code, the regular price of $24.99 is pretty excellent for a three-piece speaker system -- especially considering that it sells new for $50.

The only downside is the warranty: there isn't one, only a 30-day replacement policy. Sometimes that's the price of scoring a particularly sweet deal.

Bonus deal: Game time! Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 for iOS is on sale for just 99 cents. It was $4.99 when I previewed it just two months ago. Since then, I've had the chance to actually play it -- and it's a blast. Oh, I mean, my kids think it's a blast. Yeah, that's it.
