This is an update of a deal I wrote about nearly a year ago.

I'm a big fan of Bluetooth speakers. Plunk one down just about anywhere and you can wirelessly stream tunes from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. I have one of those Jawbone Jamboxes, and it's proven a great little accessory.

But pricey: they sell for around $120 and up. Here's a much more affordable alternative: for a limited time, and while supplies last, Meritline has the refurbished Logitech 980-000589 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker for $49.99 shipped. Though a discontinued product, it sells elsewhere for at least $94.

Update: Blerg. Price is now up to $59.99. Still a good deal, but I hate when vendors do this in the middle of the day.

The Wireless Speaker can pair with any device that supports A2DP, aka stereo Bluetooth. That means it'll work with an iPhone or Android phone, as well as many tablets and laptops. It also has a 3.5mm input jack, so it's compatible with non-Bluetooth devices, too.

Of course, wireless is where it's at. And because the LWS relies on Bluetooth rather than a Wi-Fi network, it can literally work anywhere -- unlike certain other wireless-speaker technologies (cough, AirPlay, cough).

Indeed, the gizmo comes with a rechargeable battery (which Logitech says is good for up to 10 hours), so you can take it to the park, the beach, or wherever.

Much as I like using a speaker like this for music, it's particularly great alongside my tablet when I'm watching movies or TV shows. Needless to say, it's a huge improvement over any device's built-in speakers.

I can't comment on the Logitech's overall audio quality, as I haven't heard one firsthand (firstear?). But the handful of user reviews are generally positive, noting primarily that unlike some refurbished products, this one does indeed look a bit used.

If you're familiar with this model and have an opinion to share, let's hear from you in the comments!

Bonus deal: New baby on the way? Not happy with the quality of your smartphone snapshots? Maybe it's time to invest in a decent camera. Today only, 1SaleADay has the Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2-megapixel DSLR camera for $369.99, plus $5 for shipping. It sells elsewhere for around $450. Just be prepared to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping.
