Those who've read "A Song of Ice and Fire," George R.R. Martin's series of books that inspired the HBO series "Game of Thrones," have taken a certain pride in knowing what's coming before those who only watch the show.
But a new revelation by Martin shows that all bets are off for Season 5. Speaking to Showbiz411 at the Writers Guild West Awards on Saturday, Martin revealed that "Game of Thrones" co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have some major twists planned that will see the HBO show kill off characters that don't die in the books.
"People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," Martin told Showbiz411. "So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am."
Going forward, then, those who've read all five "A Song of Ice and Fire" books released thus far will be sitting alongside those who haven't, with neither knowing for sure whether their favorite characters will win the "Game of Thrones" or die trying. Season 5 of "Game of Thrones" lands on HBO on April 12.
