Microsoft is giving away Texas Hold 'em free to Xbox 360 owners to download -- but you've only got two days to do it.

From next Wednesday 23 August at 6pm EST through to Friday 25 August 6pm EST, the full version of Texas Hold 'em will be available for download free of charge from Xbox Live Arcade. After that first 48 hours, the game will cost 800 Microsoft Points to download (roughly AU$13).

The Live version of Texas Hold 'em features multiplayer support for up to eight gamers, three modes of gameplay (Standard Games, Scenarios and Tournaments), Achievements and online leaderboards. Texas Hold 'em also has an innovative new feature called Persistent Bankroll. Your virtual bankroll is tied to your Xbox Live Gamertag and keeps a running tally of your chip count. If you lose all of your chips in a poker game, you'll have to play lower stakes buy-in games to make back your stack and earn your way to the big tables.

Other upcoming Xbox Live Arcade titles include:

  • Time Pilot, the futuristic fighter pilot classic from Konami. Gamers can download Time Pilot on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, 30 August. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.
  • Scramble, the classic side-scrolling 'shoot-'em up' coin-op title from Konami. Launches on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday 6 September. Available: 400 Microsoft Points.
