Fernandes: Kudos on design comments

In response to the Sept. 25 column by Tony Fernandes, It?s the people, stupid!:"

For years, I have adhered to the philosophy "mold the program to the user, not mold the users to the program"--much to the consternation of many focus groups and beta tests that I have participated in. It was nice to finally be able to say "I told you so." People do need to be enticed to change. Fernandes has explained this simple concept so perceptively. His examples are right on.

Though many berate the folks in Redmond, Wash., there are more computer users because Windows is relatively easy to learn. I liked his comments concerning the "feel" of the program. I hope that Fernandes does continue to comment on this subject.

Unfortunately, one of the requirements to change something is to repeat the instructions more than once. Again, thank you CNET for an excellent column.
