Exodus offers Veritas storage software

Exodus Communications, a major Web hosting company, will begin selling software from Veritas in an effort to improve the Web sites of its customers. The Veritas storage software is designed to protect corporate data by duplicating it and can speed the performance of Web sites by making storage more efficient, according to Exodus executives. The new software, which will be available for sale or rental to Exodus customers, is part of the hosting firm's strategy of offering so-called managed services. Most Web hosting firms are rapidly offering a variety of services in addition to selling space in their data center facilities, as a way to increase their revenue.
