'Epic Rap Battles' pits Ash Ketchum against Charles Darwin

The latest lyrical showdown on the YouTube series "Epic Rap Battles of History" pits a fictional Pokemon trainer against a famous scientist best known for the theory of evolution.

How can a make-believe character from Pokemon compare with the real-life human whose work introduced the concept of humans evolving from apes?

In "Epic Rap Battles of History: Ash Ketchum vs Charles Darwin" posted on YouTube on Monday, we see what would happen if fiction and fact collided in an impressive linguistic duel.

Ash Ketchum, a character whose sole purpose is to collect Pokemon creatures, and Charles Darwin, a scientist who documented and collected data on organisms around the world, have few things in common. But that doesn't mean their rap battle isn't full of jabs.

"I'm a masterful naturalist," Darwin says in the video. "What I've glimpsed will outclass all the crap on your laughable list. My research reversed the first words of the church. You measure your worth by the sales of your merch."

"Nature is cruel because the only thing you're winning is your cousin's gene pool," Ketchum answers back. "You lost three children while they were still small. TB and scarlet fever, gotta catch 'em all."

Ouch. Who do you think won?

Previous Epic Rap Battles have included Deadpool vs. Boba Fett, Jim Henson vs. Stan Lee, Ghostbusters vs. MythBusters, Thomas Edison vs. Nikola Tesla, and Steve Jobs vs. Bill Gates.
