Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson alarm app gets your candy ass out of bed

Can you smell what The Rock is cooking for your mornings? That's the smell of getting your butt out of bed with no snooze to save you.

This is the photo The Rock used to promote his new alarm app on Instagram.

The Rock

Former wrestler and current acting superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson gets up at 4 a.m. every day, works out and conquers the world. He doesn't smack the snooze button only to slither into the kitchen an hour later for a cup of coffee like a mere puddle of a person. Now he wants to share a little slice of his wake-up willpower in the form of The Rock Clock, a free alarm app for iOS and Android.

The Rock Clock includes this description: "The world's most motivational alarm clock. Ever. In the world. Of all time." If what's missing from your mornings is a 260-pound man strumming a guitar and singing "Open your eyes up, get your candy ass out of bed," this is the alarm app for you. And yes, he has a very nice singing voice.

The app lets you set goals (like losing weight or writing your screenplay) and arrange a time for Johnson to "wake your ass up." The star of the show is the variety of alarm tones, which include The Rock saying "beep, beep, beep, beep," a soundtrack of chainsaws, explosions going off, a sweet and jaunty flute tune and one called "Battle Cat" that features drums and cats meowing.

The entertaining alarms and complete lack of a snooze button should be enough to get even the sleepiest sleepy-heads up and out of bed. Plus, you don't want to make The Rock mad, do you? One feature most people will probably opt to skip lets you sync your alarm to wake up with Johnson, which is right around crazy-early in the morning your time.

The Rock is promoting the app heavily on social media, offering up a video of himself smashing an old-school alarm clock with a sledgehammer, muscles bulging. He sure looks like a man who's gotten plenty of rest.

The Rock's app isn't the only highly motivational alarm out there. The Ruggie is a mat that sits on your floor and requires two feet on top of it before it will shut up. Robotics tinkerer Simone Giertz created a face-slapping fake-arm alarm clock that would be impossible to sleep through. Or maybe the salty scent of bacon is more your speed. If you really have trouble getting up, then you might want to press all of them into service simultaneously.
