In response to the August 14 letter by Richard Burmeister, "":
I just read the "Misplaced ire at Windows" letter, and I am completely dumbfounded at the author's complete disregard for OpenBSD. Not only is it built from the ground up with security as its highest priority, but it also was done so by open-source contributors who do not "place a maximum value on money."
While I agree that the blame for compromised security falls squarely on the persons who refuse to patch their system appropriately, that will never change. OpenBSD is designed to be resistant to even that kind of compromise. It's the only operating system that can boast only one remote hole in the default install in more than seven years!
