The Doctor Who pop-up shop that saw such wild success in Sydney is next taking to the Queensland capital.
Whovian merch galore usually off limits to Aussie fans will soon be available to Brisbanites, with the exclusiveset to arrive on 12 October for a three-week stay.
Like the Sydney shop, the Brisbane store will allow fans to get their hands on the Who Home range of goodies — teapots, mugs, tea towels, notebooks and laptop cases — as well as some t-shirts and leggings and replica Doctor Who coats. And, of course, there will be toys galore — and even some collectibles, such as the Titan Entertainment 10th Doctor Tuxedo vinyl figure and the limited-edition silver coin created by the New Zealand mint.
The TARDIS and K-9 will even be on hand for photo ops.
Customers are invited to come to the opening day in costume, with the first 20 customers through the doors to receive a free gift.
And, premiering on 8 February 2014 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will be performing the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, a performance of Doctor Who music written by Murray Gold, who has served as the series' musical director since 2005. This will be accompanied by a big screen, featuring selected scenes from Matt Smith's tenure, including a horde of terrifying monsters. Tickets can be booked online or by calling 132 849.
The pop-up store will open its doors at 9am on Saturday, 12 October at Shop 13A, 23 James Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
