The average price of cell phone service nationwide is edging upward, according to economic research firm Econ One. The company said the average cost of service rose 0.3 percent in August, after a 4.7 percent decrease recorded in June and July.
Cell phone users in Pittsburgh saw the price of service rise the most, estimated at 3.5 percent. St. Louis, Denver and Washington, D.C., also saw big jumps in cell phone service costs. The average price of service dipped, however, in Cincinnati, Boston, Los Angeles and New York, Econ One found.
