Intel's income for the final quarter of 2009 was astounding: net income up 875 percent to $2.3 billion, and revenue of $10.6 billion, up 28 percent year over year. It's always a good sign for the tech industry when Intel does well.

The video game industry also does a bang-up December, Verizon reconsiders its wireless-plan rates, Apple tries to put the kibosh on an online scavenger hunt for the tablet, and the final days of the Mars Spirit rover.
