Canon's SX1 superzoom gets RAW

It seems Canon has taken to heart one of our misgivings about its top-of-the-line superzoom, the SX1. As of March, a firmware update will be made available to users that will allow the camera to shoot RAW images.

It seems Canon has taken to heart one of our misgivings about its top-of-the-line superzoom, the SX1 IS. As of March, a firmware update will be made available to users that will allow the camera to shoot RAW images.

We loved the CNET editors' choice winning SX1 IS when we tested it last year, apart from the fact that it didn't have the option to capture images in the RAW format. Fortunately, Canon has heard our pleas and will make a firmware update available from its website in March.

Canon's imaging software (Digital Photo Professional) will also be updated so it can process the SX1's RAW files.
