Brit indie labels worry about digital charts

The U.K.-based Association of Independent Music has complained to that country's Office of Fair Trading about plans to start counting online music sales in the top-selling music charts.

The Official U.K. Charts CompanyOfficial U.K. Charts Company, which plays more or less the role of Billboard's charts in the U.S., is set to start blending physical sales with digital downloads next Sunday. But AIM says there are still serious problems with the way that digital sales are counted, and notes that independent labels are still not distributed fully in the online stores, which means the charts will be skewed.
