BlackBerry-like service offered for other devices

Cingular offers two new business services that will let it sell BlackBerry pager-like services to users of devices that aren't BlackBerries.

Cingular Wireless has broadened its corporate e-mail lineup with two new services: Xpress Mail Enterprise Edition, which lets phones reach behind the corporate firewall to fetch e-mail or documents, and Xpress Mail Network Edition, a managed service hosted by Cingular. Prices were not disclosed. Both solutions are designed to be suitable for organizations of all sizes and to work on a variety of mobile devices. The services are being powered by Seven, a wireless e-mail host and longtime Cingular Wireless partner.

For Cingular, it's an opportunity to sell BlackBerry pager-like services to users of devices that aren't BlackBerries, such as the PalmOne Treo 600.
