'Batman v Superman' trailer to hit theaters April 20

Director Zack Snyder tweets that first trailer for the hotly anticipated superhero film will be shown at special iMax events next week.

Movie fans will finally get a peek next week at one of the most anticipated superhero films in recent years.

Zack Snyder, the director of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," tweeted Wednesday evening that "special teaser screening events" for the movie are scheduled for Monday at iMax theaters. The tweet also includes a 20-second video peek at the costumes to be worn by the Batman and Superman in the movie, sans Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, who will portray the superheroes, respectively.

The teaser represents the first significant view fans will get of the movie since the movie's logo was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2013. Actors at the event read from Frank Miller's seminal "The Dark Knight Returns," which culminates in an older Batman going toe-to-toe with a Superman who has become a lackey of the US government.

The actors cautioned that while the book wasn't being adapted for the movie, it would offer an idea of what Snyder had in mind. The book, published in 1986, is a reimagining of the superheroes' decades-long, friendly dynamic, positioning them on opposite ends of the political and social spectrum.

Saying that space is limited, Snyder encouraged fans to visit a make a reservation to attend one of the teaser viewing events.
