Graphics chipmaker ATI Technologies on Tuesday said it had acquired certain assets of its AMI Technologies sales subsidiary. By aquiring assets from AMI, ATI's 11-year-old sales arm for China and Taiwan, the chipmaker aims to expand its presence in Taiwan and China, two important markets for the chipmaker.
Meanwhile, ATI also expects to lower its operating expenses. ATI will assume a number of employees as well as offices in Taipei and Beijing. AMI's Shanghai office will be moved to a new site. AMI will use its remaining assets to continue its operations a seller for ATI chips, the graphics chipmaker said. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
